Clay's auto-mode picks the AI model per row, cutting costs 47% via a fine-tuned open-weight router

Clay introduced auto-mode for Claygent: it picks the AI model for each row of research, balancing quality and cost, on by default for new columns. It's 47% cheaper than sending every task to the most capable model and selects a model in <1 second. Notably, the routing is handled by a post-trained open-weight model built with appliedcompute, running on their AC2 platform and serving hundreds of millions of queries per month.
