A Reddit user open-sourced CrawlerVision, an Android app that turns the Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobooks into a visual audiobook experience.
How it works:
- Play the audiobook normally via Audible or Amazon Music; the app reads playback info and syncs with your current chapter
- AI-generated scene illustrations advance automatically based on estimated scene timings
- Supports chapter switching, manual sync as backup, fullscreen viewing, and image navigation
Progress so far: Book 1 complete with 47 chapters and 470 illustrations; Book 2's first 25 chapters with 250 more — 720 total. The author stresses it's a non-commercial personal project, admits the art is "AI slop," and open-sourced the code so others can build similar tools for other audiobooks.
