Neufangled Robotics launched Stringman, a room-scale cable robot: $795, fully open source, OSHWA certified, with CAD/PCBs/software published. "Tension is all you need": four motors suspend a gripper from ceiling-corner lines, covering the entire room including cluttered floors. Shared load yields 1.25 kg average payload (2 kg near the floor) vs 0.32 kg for a comparable serial arm. Specs: 0.4 m/s travel, 2 anchor cameras + 1 gripper camera, Raspberry Pi controllers, your PC as the brain, 1000h of real-home testing. Ships with an MCP server for agentic control — GregKamradt joked: "clean up my toddler's toys, make no mistakes."
