FLOP-maxxing: Running GPUs flat-out as space heaters, with the dashboards to prove it
lauriewired · x · 2026-10-28
Security researcher LaurieWired jokes that every CPU, GPU, and game console is "functionally a 1:1 electric space heater," so there's no reason not to run silly compute experiments to stay warm — "throw some agents at it, see what ROI you can squeeze out." Her screenshots show a Ryzen 9 7950X3D at 75% busy / 119W running Whisper and SDXL-LoRA jobs, plus a Tenstorrent Blackhole p150a at 96% busy / 289W of 315W running llama prefill and matmul sweeps.
