Microsoft open-sources Skill Recorder: turn screen recordings into reusable Copilot skills
adnan_hashmi · x · 2026-10-28
Microsoft has open-sourced Skill Recorder, an Electron desktop app that records your on-screen work session and uses the GitHub Copilot SDK to reconstruct it as an intent plus ordered steps, then builds a reusable Skill or Automation for Microsoft Autopilots such as Scout, Copilot Cowork, and Copilot Studio. The repo is MIT-licensed and has drawn 5.3k stars and 599 forks. It supports narrated recordings with built-in offline multilingual voice transcription, effectively letting you teach an agent by demonstrating a task once.
