YC: As robot skills transfer across machines, the bottleneck shifts to hardware
ycombinator · x · 2026-10-28
Y Combinator argues that robot foundation models are starting to transfer skills from one machine to another, shifting the industry bottleneck to hardware.
The U.S. still imports much of its robots and critical components. YC wants founders to rebuild that supply chain domestically—from magnets, motors, gears, and sensors to chips, batteries, and the machines that make them.
