Y Combinator RFS: Air-Gapped Industries Need Frontier AI Brought Inside the Walls
ycombinator · x · 2026-10-28
YC's Brad Flora's RFS item "AI for the Air-Gapped Economy" points out that some of the world's most valuable data — held by defense contractors, banks, hospitals, and nuclear plants — can never leave the building or hit a cloud AI API.
That creates an opportunity to bring frontier AI inside those walls: on-prem models, deployment tooling, security accreditation, and hardware for the parts of the economy the cloud can't reach.
