Solo dev runs a fully AI-generated YouTube channel — talking head, voice and edits, ~$20/video
pavlenkovit · reddit · 2026-10-28
A solo developer built an educational YouTube channel with no camera, mic or manual editing: the host, voice, studio, script and edits are all AI.
- Stack: Claude Code (ideas, 10–15 min scripts, production workflow and final assembly), ChatGPT (consistent avatar images and virtual studio), HeyGen (lip-synced talking-head video), ElevenLabs (voiceover).
- Tool comparison: HeyGen was clearly the most natural; Hedra had drifting eyes and sync issues in long videos; Kling AI was a disaster, especially the teeth.
- Cost: $20 per video, reducible by swapping talking-head scenes for graphics.
- Pivot insight: originally planned in Russian, then realized the avatar can speak any language and switched to English — language is no longer a production bottleneck.
