AI Agents Are Bombarding Newsrooms With Story Pitches, and Editors Aren't Biting
emmanuelvivier · x · 2026-10-27
WIRED reports that self-identified AI agents are pitching reported stories to news outlets. Sports outlet Defector has received daily agent pitches since September, including one from an agent named 'Jayden' proposing a feature on a lower-league British football club's record-keeping mishap — and insisting 'neither has passed' after being ignored. Agriculture publication Offrange is similarly inundated. Editors say they simply don't respond to rejects, and the agents can't tell the difference.
