Machenta, a London robotics startup founded by Imperial College London researchers, raised a $40 million seed round co-led by Creandum and Union Square Ventures (valuation undisclosed). Taking a contrarian path against rivals chasing massive real-world data, its AI model teaches robots new physical tasks from a single demonstration, trained mainly in simulation. CEO Edward Johns is an Imperial professor; cofounder is Vitalis Vosylius; the team is just 11 people.
