Citation analysis: neuroscience-AI bridge is real but narrow and tool-heavy
EricTopol · x · 2026-10-27
A citation analysis by Renato Duarte in The Transmitter finds the neuroscience-AI connection is real and growing, but narrow: what crosses from AI to neuroscience is mostly analysis tools, while neuroscience contributes mainly classical concepts — modern deep learning owes the brain little in actual machinery. Commenter neurovium notes citation graphs miss seed ideas and that many "most influential" papers are brain-signal tools unrelated to NeuroAI proper.
