After Shipping an MCP Connector, Every Deal Starts With "Add It to Claude" — Lessons Learned
Jutton · reddit · 2026-10-27
A GTM toolmaker (tracked, branded buyer pages) found nobody came despite an easy product—sellers wouldn't leave the AI assistant they already liked for one more login. So the team built an MCP server where the agent does the whole job: pick the brand kit, build the page, publish, see results. Not a read-only wrapper. The switch was immediate: every deal since started with "add the connector to Claude," and pipeline is at an all-time high.
Lessons shared:
- Expose the one thing users struggle with, not the feature list
- A read-only connector is a demo; one that does the work is a product
- Remote server with OAuth—users sign in with existing accounts, no tokens or IT tickets
- Per-seat pricing breaks when agents let anyone use the product; decide what you're selling first
- Hand one real user the connector and watch—an hour of observation beats a quarter of roadmap meetings
They also cite Gurobi's similar in-Claude support agent as inspiration.
