ChatGPT's hidden image generation limit surprises Plus users after ~800 images a day
KeepingItReasonable · reddit · 2026-10-27
A Reddit user on the Plus plan discovered ChatGPT has a hidden, invisible quota for image generation: nothing in the UI shows usage, and you only find out when a chat message says you've hit it.
Screenshots show the 5-hour limit at 84% and weekly limit at 95% remaining, yet the system says the remaining allowance only covers non-image tasks. The user says he generated around 800 images the day before. The post drew criticism of OpenAI's opaque quota design—no visible counters, no per-feature breakdown, users just hit a wall.
