Digital Sovereignty Is Now a Cloud Architecture Decision, and AI Pipelines Make It Harder
DavidLinthicum · x · 2026-10-27
Cloud architect David Linthicum argues digital sovereignty has become a cloud architecture decision, not a compliance checkbox. Data residency alone is insufficient: management planes, admin access, encryption keys, logs, backups and identity services all matter. With AI, sensitive data spreads into prompts, embeddings, inference logs and human-review workflows, so the entire AI pipeline must meet the same sovereignty standard — handled via workload classification rather than blanket restrictions.
