A 30-minute workflow for triaging any research paper
cneuralnetwork · x · 2026-10-27
cneuralnetwork (51k followers) shares a 30-minute paper triage workflow:
- 5 min: abstract, introduction, main figure
- 5 min: results, benchmarks, evaluation metrics
- 5 min: baselines — are they strong, recent, fairly tuned?
- 10 min (the biggest block): methodology and ablations — what actually explains the improvement?
- 5 min: limitations, compute budget, reproducibility
Only papers that survive all five checks get a proper full read; most papers don't need one. The emphasis on auditing baselines and ablations is designed to quickly spot whether claimed gains are real.
