Inside Claude Code's 7-layer AI code review: 90% AI-written, 30K daily merges

The Claude Code team shared how it reviews code now that AI writes 90% of the codebase: Anthropic's daily merged changes jumped from 2,500 in May to 30,000+ in September, so line-by-line human review was replaced by a 7-layer continuous validation system.
- Pre-PR: Claude runs tests, builds, linters; a second subagent reviews the diff in a fresh context.
- Multi-agent review: parallel agents analyze the PR against the whole codebase; verifier agents vote to filter noise, findings posted ranked by severity.
- Security & CI: separate security pass; red CI or an open finding blocks merge.
- One human gate: a risk classifier sets reviewer count — low risk 0 people, medium 1, high/sensitive paths 2.
- Post-merge: feature flag, internal employees first, then gradual latest→stable rollout.
- Watch/fix forward/rollback at every stage.
Core idea: layered automation plus risk-tiered human attention replaces line-by-line review.
