Apple II Agent revived: a 1980s Apple IIe now writes and runs its own software via Claude
repligate · x · 2026-10-27
Developer Ben Edwards revived his Apple II Agent project from January: an Apple IIe fitted with an Ethernet card and a custom client that connects to Claude through a Mac proxy, enabling conversational Apple II software creation similar to Claude Code. Once generated, programs are loaded directly into memory and run.
Demos show the 40-column uppercase machine chatting, initializing DHCP, and even playing Tripeaks solitaire by tracing through card sequences step by step — retro hardware wired into a modern AI agent workflow.
