Agent made 133 calls in 41 seconds: engineer argues physics, not protocols, is the bottleneck

Integration engineer Gil Feig shared a real test: a complex question sent to an agent triggered 133 calls in 41 seconds, with rate limits hit on almost every one.
His takeaway: the MCP-vs-API debate misses the point. Physics — rate limits and latency constraints — is the real bottleneck, which is exactly why context layers have become the hot architecture pattern.
