Rolldown ships Inline Common Chunks to cut small common chunk files
irvinebroque · x · 2026-10-27
Rolldown introduced an experimental Inline Common Chunks feature that inlines small common chunks into the chunks that use them and removes separate files, with a shared runtime keeping module state consistent. Configured via codeSplitting.experimentalInlineCommonChunks.maxSize (default 0/disabled, sizes measured pre-minification). Requires ESM output, preserveEntrySignatures: false, and strictExecutionOrder; entries, dynamic import targets and manual chunks are never inlined, and exclude blocks a whole common chunk. The team reports significantly fewer small chunks in internal projects.
