Anthropic logged $80.7B H1 net loss, but investor says media misread a noncash charge

Anthropic's draft IPO prospectus disclosed an $80.7 billion net loss for H1 2026, which WSJ and Reuters headlined heavily. Investor firstadopter (author of the Anthropic S-1 analysis) argues the figure is driven by an unimportant noncash convertible fair-value charge, and accuses the media of fixating on it while ignoring the real fundamentals: breakneck revenue growth, a narrow customer base, and uncertain access to computing power. "Is the media this clueless, deceptive, or simply incompetent?"
