Anthropic's Automated Alignment Researchers: scaling oversight with LLMs
burny_tech · x · 2026-10-27
burnytech shares Anthropic's "Automated Alignment Researchers" study from the Fellows program: using weak-to-strong supervision (a weaker teacher model fine-tunes a stronger base model) to probe scalable oversight, with each autonomous researcher given a different ambiguous starting hint before independently proposing ideas, running experiments, and sharing findings and code. Driven by the reality that models now generate millions of lines of code humans can't parse, and alignment must scale with model progress.
