Anthropic reportedly turns operating profit as compute cost per revenue dollar hits $0.48
JOBhakdi · x · 2026-10-27
A third-party analysis claims Anthropic has reached operating profitability, undercutting the "labs burn cash with no path to profit" bubble thesis: compute cost per $1 of revenue fell from $2.51 (Q1 2025) to below $1 (Q1 2026, first positive gross margin) to $0.48 (Q2 2026). Operating margin went from −224% (Q3 2025) to +8% (Q2 2026) while still training frontier models. At $0.48 per dollar, $1T of compute spend could yield $2T revenue — good news for Nvidia, Micron, SK Hynix, TSMC and hyperscalers. Figures are unofficial estimates.
