DeepMind: 4 Gemini agents beat Minecraft autonomously in 27 hours, writing 2,783 programs

A Google DeepMind paper (arXiv:2610.22319) reports the first end-to-end autonomous Minecraft completion by AI. Four general-purpose Gemini 4 Argon coding agents, coordinating via in-game chat and shared memory with no human-assigned roles or game-specific tools, wrote 2,783 programs and defeated the Ender Dragon in 27h14m, dying 605 times, using only the Mineflayer library. The authors argue this long-horizon, multi-agent planning mirrors complex real-world software engineering.
