EMNLP paper GENIE: a fine-grained metric locating where LLM stories are novel
gregd_nlp · x · 2026-10-27
Presented at the EMNLP 2026 poster session, GENIE is a fine-grained novelty metric for LLM-generated stories. Motivation: LLM stories can have unique characters with cliché plots (or vice versa), and a single holistic score can't distinguish where originality lies. GENIE tells you where and why a response is original, enabling finer-grained study of novelty, discourse, and creativity.
