Meta unveils 102.4T liquid-cooled network rack and 2-tier Flattened Planar Fabric for AI at OCP 2026
Meta_Engineers · x · 2026-10-27
At the 2026 OCP Global Summit, Meta detailed the open networking infrastructure behind its latest AI workloads:
- IcePack/IceCube: Meta's first liquid-cooled network rack with 102.4T switch blades (128×800G non-blocking) in Tomahawk 6C and Spectrum-6 variants, running FBOSS — 2x the bandwidth of its 51.2T platforms.
- Flattened Planar Fabric (FPF): each GPU gets eight independent links to eight switches, flattening a 3-tier Clos to 2 tiers with NIC-level load balancing.
- BAG: petabit-scale backend aggregation interconnecting fabrics so the gigawatt-scale Prometheus cluster operates as one cluster.
- Tahan: an Ethernet scale-up switch for MTIA 300, with a 72-accelerator-per-rack design on 102.4T silicon previewed.
- OSPA: a new OCP standardization initiative co-led with Microsoft and Alibaba.
Talks and slide decks are publicly available.
