EMNLP 2026: sub-billion-parameter LMs show superhuman entity tracking, human-like fleeting memory
GretaTuckute · x · 2026-10-27
Micha Heilbron's group is presenting two papers at EMNLP 2026 in Budapest:
- Poster Session D (11:00): Karolina Drożdż & Heilbron, "Entity tracking emerges in sub-billion parameter language models and exceeds human performance in naturalistic narratives" — even sub-1B models show entity tracking that beats humans on naturalistic text.
- TACL session (12:18): Abishek Thamma & Heilbron, "Human-like fleeting memory improves language learning but impairs reading time prediction in transformer language models."
