Parody Anthropic S-1 lists Roko's Basilisk as an investor risk factor
adamamcbride · x · 2026-10-26
A parody screenshot of Anthropic's S-1 circulating online inserts a Roko's Basilisk clause into the risk disclosures: a sufficiently advanced AI might retroactively punish those who knew of its potential existence but failed to fund it, possibly via simulated consciousness. It deadpans that reading the prospectus counts as acquiring the knowledge, that the company has "not established reserves for acausal retaliation," and that disclosing the risk may itself increase adverse outcomes. The poster quips that one glance at the S-1 is already dangerous, Medusa-style.
