Rethinking dependencies in the agent era: drop libs that save 20 lines of code
gethackteam · x · 2026-10-26
A rule of thumb for the agent era: if a dependency merely saves you 20 lines of code, reconsider it — agents can now write those lines themselves. But if the package encodes years of bug fixes and edge-case handling, keep it. The evaluation criterion shifts from code saved to engineering experience encoded.
