SaaS hype is gone: the shift to AI-native services that sell outputs, not software
mitchdeg · x · 2026-10-26
An industry thesis making the rounds: SaaS hype has faded, replaced by "AI-native services" that sell the direct output of work instead of software for professionals. Example: rather than selling accounting software plus hiring an accountant, an AI-native service sells the finished balance sheet directly, like a firm.
The market logic: companies spend roughly 6 euros on services for every 1 euro on SaaS, so the addressable market for AI-native services is far larger than SaaS ever was.
