Anthropic's Jascha: you may have only 1–5 years of intellectual contribution before AGI
GabGarrett · x · 2026-10-26
Anthropic researcher Jascha Sohl-Dickstein told a Stanford audience that you might have only 1–5 years to contribute intellectually to the world before AGI — and urged people to spend that window deliberately rather than on entertainment.
The post quoting him drew a cynical riposte: AI companies tell you your career is going down the drain while urging you to work extra hard right before the bottom falls out — so they can train on your data. A representative snapshot of the ongoing AGI labor-ethics debate.
