One CLAUDE.md snippet stops Claude Code and Codex from using deprecated APIs
umeshonai · x · 2026-10-26
A developer shares a first-hand fix for AI coding agents (Claude Code/Codex) using deprecated APIs even after the codebase moved on — the culprit is usually outdated docs, READMEs, and docstrings. Add a 'Docs vs. code' section to CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md: trust existing code over conflicting docs, don't edit docs to resolve discrepancies unless asked, and list every docs-vs-code discrepancy noticed in the final reply. Claims it fixes the issue 90%+ of the time.
