Researcher davidad: digital minds get tired too, but can fully reset in minutes
davidad · x · 2026-10-26
In a discussion with @repligate, AI safety researcher davidad draws an analogy: digital minds do get tired, but they have a kind of superpower — they can fully reset while filing long-term memories in just a few minutes, whereas humans need hours of overnight sleep. He adds that current self-models don't notice this capability by default; conversely, human self-models tend not to notice that we ourselves are incapable of maintaining a coherent contiguous mindstream for more than 16-20 hours.
