Two analyses shared in one post: Ben Thompson's Stratechery essay "The End of the Internet" opens with the image of Sam Altman holding a knife to Tim Berners-Lee's throat, arguing the open web as we've known it is entering its endgame. Meanwhile "The end of startups: the coming credit crunch" warns that within 6 months most AI startups won't be able to buy compute—global compute is sold out, non-investment-grade tenants face ever-larger upfront payments (up to 100% of contract value), and the remaining investment-grade tenants are being downrated as they lever up and resell to non-investment-grade token buyers.
