lockdoc: MCP server serves rustdoc for deps at exact Cargo.lock versions
Ryozukki · reddit · 2026-10-26
A Reddit user shared lockdoc (edg-l/lockdoc), an open-source MCP server that fights coding agents' version hallucinations in Rust.
The problem: agents write code against crate APIs they remember from training — you pin bevy 0.20, the model assumes 0.15, and generates calls that don't exist.
How it works: lockdoc builds rustdoc JSON for each dependency at the exact version and features in your Cargo.lock and exposes it over MCP (item/search/deps). Paths resolve through re-exports just like use, so bevy::prelude::Transform works out of the box.
