Organ-Agents: 9 Organ LLM Agents Simulate 22,689 ICU Patients for Treatment Testing
mikeflache · x · 2026-10-26
Researchers built "Organ-Agents," a multi-agent LLM system where 9 AI agents each simulate one organ system (cardiovascular, kidneys, lungs, immune, etc.), coordinated in real time via reinforcement learning into a physiological ecosystem.
The system has simulated 22,689 ICU patients. Researchers can introduce diseases or drugs and watch the organ agents interact, testing treatments without risking real patients.
Instead of one giant model guessing patient outcomes, physiology is decomposed into specialized agents coordinating like a real body — potentially changing how medical treatments are tested.
