Developer Gathin gave Claude Code his parents' TV model number: it found the TV on WiFi, removed 25 Xiaomi bloatware/ad packages and wrote a new Apple TV-style launcher, bypassing pre-Netflix sponsored ads. The before/after screenshot got 8.5M views on X. Eight days later the project has 34,800 GitHub stars and configurations for 300 TV models — a landmark vibe-coding story.
