Thinker trims agent context on the fly, cutting token usage by ~20%
yoyoyoav · reddit · 2026-10-26
Developer yoyoyoav built Thinker after burning through a Claude Max subscription on vibecoded projects. It analyzes all your coding sessions, suggests where to trim instruction files, and compresses context when it detects waste.
It sits in the loop with your agents and updates context on the fly so subsequent model calls receive trimmed output — especially valuable for long bash command outputs. The author notes calibration is tricky since compression can hurt input caching. It also flags MCP servers or instruction file sections that inject lots of context with little value. Reported result: roughly 20% fewer tokens to task completion.
