Robotics firm Motoniq (Haitham Bou-Ammar, Mac Schwager, Jan Peters, Cesar Cadena) published a position paper, "Robots Need More Than VLAs & World Models" (arXiv:2606.06556), arguing that VLA models and world models — despite attracting enormous attention and investment — are insufficient on their own for robotics. They also released a scientific benchmark illustrating what the field is missing and what comes next. Their motto: "Less hype. More work."
