Frontier LLMs can build their own scoring harness to hill-climb any goal
Ryoiki-Tokuiten · reddit · 2026-10-25
A Redditor demonstrates that frontier LLMs (tested on Gemini 4 Argon) can create their own task-specific scoring harness and hill-climb toward any goal. The demo: prompt the model to design its own SVG-scoring harness and produce a pixel-perfect SVG of a complex reference image — no ray-tracing tricks or reward hacking — then iterate. The result is an 800-line stylized SVG faithfully recreating the reference. Key insight: letting the model design and verify its own eval signal generalizes to any verifiable objective.
