Bayer taps Stanford startup Phylo and its open-source Biomni agent for drug discovery
RichardsonDx · x · 2026-10-25
- Pharma giant Bayer is working with Stanford spinoff Phylo, which raised a $13.5M seed, to help find new drugs. Phylo's product, Biomni Lab, is built on the open-source Biomni general-purpose biomedical AI agent.
- Biomni comes from a Stanford team including Jure Leskovec and Aviv Regev; the paper is on bioRxiv.
- The agent reads papers, runs analyses, and assembles evidence for researchers — a real-world deployment of AI agents in pharma R&D pipelines.
