Claude Cowork as a free IT technician: 7 prompts to diagnose and fix a slow PC
TawohAwa · x · 2026-10-25
A step-by-step guide to using Claude Desktop's Computer Use and Cowork features as an IT technician that would otherwise cost $100/hour to diagnose and fix a slow computer.
Setup: install Claude Desktop, enable Computer Use in Settings, start a Cowork session, and grant access to the apps it asks for, then paste any of the seven prompts.
The prompts are designed with safety rails: every change requires user approval, no risky system modifications, and nothing gets deleted — passwords, bookmarks, or history — without permission.
