Pipeline turns 34 hours of ATP match video into biomechanics data; Claude gives surprisingly good tennis coaching

The Off Policy team built a pipeline that converts any tennis video into precise measurements of serves, forehands and backhands. They ran it on 11 ATP pros across 34 hours of match footage (including the Djokovic vs. Shelton US Open 2023 semifinal), plus themselves and Richard Pham, then asked Claude for fixes. The author says the coaching advice was something he wished he'd received years ago, arguing sports analytics hasn't been revolutionized by AI yet despite models being superhuman at mining large complex datasets — and personalized deep analytics is hugely valuable for pros and amateurs alike.
