CapCut ships ChatGPT desktop plugin that turns raw footage into an editable rough cut from one prompt

CapCut now offers a plugin for ChatGPT desktop. The author tested it on Tesla Roadster footage: describe the concept in plain words, and the plugin builds a fully editable rough cut, with final polish done in CapCut Web.
- Setup: open CapCut Web's Video Editor → click the top-right icon for the install prompt → paste it into ChatGPT desktop and send.
- How it works: transitions, text and CapCut's audio library layer the style on top of the editable rough cut.
- Trailer structure tip: open on one striking shot, build through close details, land on the hero frame; a title card and a timed music cue do most of the cinematic work.
- Limits: early access, ChatGPT desktop only (no web or mobile); output is a rough cut — pacing, grade and final shot picks remain human calls.
