Claude Opus 5.5 safeguards flag LG TV reverse engineering as cyber violation
targaryenNotJon · reddit · 2026-10-25
A Reddit user shared a screenshot of Claude Opus 5.5 refusing to help reverse-engineer their own LG TV — a legal, long-running webOS community project — with the message flagged under "Details: [cyber]". The UI suggested switching to Opus 4.8 or applying for verification, admitting the stronger safeguards can incorrectly flag non-cybersecurity work. Notably, asking to "reverse" a videogame did not trigger the block. A typical false-positive case of Anthropic's tightened guardrails.
