1,000+ mathematicians form Association for Human Mathematics, pledge not to publish AI-generated papers

Over 1,000 mathematicians have joined the newly formed Association for Human Mathematics (AHM), committing to:
- Not publish AI-generated mathematical texts, affirming human authorship
- Not work with frontier AI labs by providing technical labor, mathematical knowledge, consultation, or publicity
Of these, 654 went further, joining an "AI-free caucus" pledging not to use AI models at all in research capacity — no AI assistance for finding proofs, exploring examples, or posing research questions. A collective academic pushback against AI's encroachment on mathematics.
