Coding agent vetoes Effect rewrite: plain TypeScript with 250 lines of helpers wins
gabe_ragland · x · 2026-10-25
gaberagland shared a screenshot of his AI coding agent's verdict after trialing the Effect framework: don't migrate for now. The Effect version came out cleaner, but plain TypeScript with 250 lines of shared helpers gets the same benefits (details in the Effect v4 prototype and PR #179). The agent added that user-facing features probably matter more than a refactor.
The author joked about being "Effect-pilled" while his agent thinks he's a moron for suggesting the rewrite — a funny but telling example of an agent pushing back on its owner with evidence-based reasoning.
