ChatGPT Windows app shows divergent Project conversation inventories vs web, bug report calls for sync audit
nhaliasos · ghdev · 2026-10-25
- A user filed an issue on openai/codex: in the Windows ChatGPT desktop app, the same named Project shows a partially overlapping but divergent conversation inventory compared with chatgpt.com — some conversations appear in both, others only on desktop, others only on the web.
- The user cannot tell whether a Project's history is complete, backed up, or available cross-device, and there is no supported way to reconcile the collections.
- The issue also requests a feature: per-conversation Local / Cloud / Synced / Sync error status with last sync time, a Project-level completeness warning when local-only entries are missing, and an audit/reconciliation view.
