CERN and Mistral Partner to Build First Foundation Model for Collider Physics
burny_tech · x · 2026-10-25
CERN and Mistral AI have signed a statement of intent to establish a long-term strategic partnership focused on foundation models for scientific discovery. At the core of the plan is a single pretrained Large Physics Model — the first foundation model for collider physics, to be trained on billions of simulated proton-proton collisions from CERN's Large Hadron Collider.
The partnership combines CERN's expertise in fundamental physics, scientific data and large-scale computing with Mistral's large-scale model training capabilities, aiming to strengthen Europe's scientific and technological capabilities.
