DeepSeek Flash-1017 pitfalls: broken budget counting, poor ambiguity handling, 'stingy' mode

More hands-on findings on DeepSeek-v4.1-Flash-1017 agent quirks, with workarounds:
- Broken budget counting: asking it to run a script 10 times and produce a stats report is a trap. Loop the script yourself (harness) instead.
- Avoid 'check status first' prompts: it either forgets to check or treats the first check as authoritative; inject environment state via your framework at runtime.
- Poor ambiguity handling: it won't ask clarifying questions like stronger models — you must de-ambiguate prompts yourself.
- The 'stingy' issue is the worst: any restriction in the prompt pushes it into energy-saving mode, refusing work that costs tokens.
The model itself is still strong: a juice-cup demo with volumetric lighting and real-time fluid simulation runs a stable 2K 60fps on a 3080Ti. Verdict: great for coding, be careful using it for AIOPS.
