A user reports Codex Computer Use failing to reliably capture Safari on Apple Silicon: Mac mini M4, macOS 27.0.1, ChatGPT desktop 26.1021.31345, Computer Use build 1001631.
Symptoms and troubleshooting
- Errors: SCStreamErrorDomain -3811 (audio/video capture failure) and -3812 (invalid parameter; logs show "contentRect does not contain sourceRect").
- Screen-recording permissions were granted (TCC Allow); restarting apps didn't help. Helper logs also showed a failed display lookup for an off-screen window.
- Workaround: restarting the Computer Use helper and bringing a normal Safari window to the main display briefly restores control, but capture fails again later — intermittent, not a fix.
Separate bug: the ChatGPT Mac UI sometimes freezes while voice mode keeps responding, blocking chat switching and clicks. The author isn't assuming the two share a cause and is collecting reproduction details across machines and versions.
